THOUGHTS? QUESTIONS?
All feedback is important and valuable. If you have spotted something that needs to be changed, or can help us to improve, we would like to hear what you are thinking. If one of the farm animals or someone on staff put a smile on your face or taught you something interesting, we’d like to know that too! Butterfield Acres today is the result of input from many people since our start in the 1980s…. your thoughts and ideas contribute to the fabric of what Butterfield Acres is today and can be tomorrow.
Our goal is to provide a kind, and healthy farm environment for our animals; a safe, fun learning environment for our visitors; a place for personal growth and success in our staff; and fond memories for the many folks who have been part of this vision through the years.
Finding Us from Your Corner of Calgary
From the NW: We are right in your backyard! Take Country Hills Boulevard or Crowchild Trail westbound, then head north on Rocky Ridge Road. Keep an eye out for our signs—the farm gate is just a minute north of the Rocky Ridge community.
From the NE: Hop on Stoney Trail (Highway 201) westbound. Take the exit for Country Hills Blvd or Sarcee Trail, then navigate toward Rocky Ridge Road. It’s a smooth, scenic drive that brings you from the city to the country in no time.
From the SW: Take Sarcee Trail or Stoney Trail northbound. Continue toward the northwest corner of the city and exit onto Country Hills Blvd. Follow it west until you reach Rocky Ridge Road, then head north until the pavement ends and the fun begins.
From the SE: Use Deerfoot Trail or Stoney Trail to head north/west. Once you reach the NW quadrant, look for the Rocky Ridge Road exit. It’s the perfect transition from the urban south to our rustic hills.
What's your preferred Mode of Transportation?
By Car (The Classic Family Road Trip)
Most of our guests arrive by car. We offer plenty of free parking in our rustic lot. Don’t worry about the dirt—a little farm dust on the tires is just a sign of a day well spent!
By Public Transit
While we are a rural location, you can get close via Calgary Transit. The Tuscany CTrain Station (Red Line) is the nearest hub. From there, you can catch a short ride via a rideshare service or check current bus feeder routes (like the Route 169) that service the Rocky Ridge area.
By Bike
For the adventurous families, the Calgary pathway system connects beautifully through the NW communities. You can cycle through the scenic trails of Rocky Ridge or Royal Oak to reach us. We have space to tuck your bikes away while you visit the critters.
The Butterfield Summer Bus (Day Campers)
Enrolled in our summer day camps? We offer a specialized shuttle bus service during select weeks of July and August with supervised pick-up and drop-off points around the city. It’s the easiest way to get your little farmer to the fields!
Farmer’s Tip:
Always check your favorite GPS app before you leave—sometimes the sheep are moving, but the city traffic is moving faster! Search for “Butterfield Acres” rather than just the address to ensure you’re led straight to our main gate.

We had a really fun afternoon yesterday at Butterfield Acres. However, a large family was in attendance and they somehow let all of the baby pigs out of the pen. I don't know how they could have screwed that up since precautions are taken such as double gates and an abundance of signs EVERYWHERE asking people to be cautious and... read more respectful. These people were neither. There was a specific sign on the baby pigs enclosure requesting that everyone be quiet and calm as the babies were new to the petting area. Not only did they let them ALL out, but then the whole family chased the babies all over the farm screaming and waving their arms, creating hysterics from the baby pigs and their mother. Many people did not want to join in the ridiculous chase because more idiots running around means even more panic for the animals. I went running around looking for a farm hand and this is why I dropped a star: when I finally saw a young man and said these people let out all the pigs, he did not respond to me but went over to this family and praised them for getting all the babies back in their pen. These people were stupid and they should not have been praised. The family left immediately, hopefully thoroughly embarrassed. I would have been more impressed had they been kicked out. So while I enjoyed our visit, I'm not 100% convinced of the staffs' concern for the animals' welfare.

May 3, 2026Took the family out for their "baby animal festival" and we had a blast. My 2yr old loved all the baby goats jumping around. We ended the day by having smores by the fire. Would recommend bringing your little ones to learn about farm life and farm animals.
