There's even a last day "Hoedown"! for friends and family of campers in the 5-7 year, 8-11 year, and 12-14 year groups.....just a cute, fun little ditty from each Day Camp Group!
Activities are tailored for your child's stage of development, attention span, motor skill development, physical endurance, and social skills.
Each day we highlight a different animal with a delightful variety of hands-on activities which vary according to age and ability. We learn about all the different animals ...how to care for them, their habits, what they eat, etc. and we fit in all sorts of wonderful things that your child might be doing if you lived here on the farm with us!! And the fresh air and countryside is marvelous!
NOW in it's 4th year!!! Farmers in Training (for 12-14 year old campers).
As the children get older and more knowledgeable and responsible, they become increasingly involved in operating the farm with us.
They do more in-depth animal care, knowledge building, record keeping, and observe elementary vet care if occasions should present themselves. And we add in a whole lot of fun and some leadership opportunities with the 8-11 year chore groups. This camp experience serves as a direct lead into our Junior Staff Development Program for the real keeners who have aspirations of working here with us as they get older.
We're excited to see how these capable and enthusiastic young folks step up to the plate and amaze us all!! It is not uncommon to find campers here for their 9th or 10th year!!!
Friends visiting for the summer?
Every year we have more children coming to enjoy our Day Camps from other parts of the world. To date we've had campers from Hong Kong, Spain, China, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Mexico, France, California, New York, Texas, California, and of course from all across Canada!!! If you have a friend visiting for the summer and they're planning to attend camp with your child, put a special note on your form to let us know! Some families plan their vacations to Calgary around Butterfield Acres FARM CAMP! And the latest clever trick with Moms? They invite their own friends in from out of town...and have a great week catching up while their kids are off at camp together!! Such a novel idea.....
